Positions advertisement for joint lab titled ‘Haptics, Human-Robotics, and Condition Monitoring Systems (CMS) lab’ established as part of the Higher Education Commission National Center of Robotics and Automation (NCRA)
The Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (IICT), Mehran University of Engineering and Technology invites applications for One (01) Research Associates, two (02) Research Assistants, One (01) Ph.D., and Two (02) Masters scholars to work on a major Higher Education Commission (HEC) National Center of Robotics and Automation (NCRA) funded lab titled ‘Haptics, Human-Robotics and Condition Monitoring Lab’ focused on design, development, and implementation of condition monitoring systems for infrastructure especially Railway/Road.
This is a multidisciplinary project that involves collaboration between various departments of the Mehran UET and other national/international institutes. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to learn from a team of leading Pakistani researchers in Condition Monitoring Systems (CMS) approaches for infrastructure and to work closely with our research partners from academia and industry.
Ph.D./MS candidates will work on CMS algorithm development, simulation, and hardware synthesis for different aspects of railway/Road CMS. They will need to collect data quantitatively and qualitatively of specific parameters of the infrastructure components for example – railway rolling stock, track, and suspension that will be tested in the laboratory as part of the experimental setup. Successful experimental setup will be followed by real-time testing and developing relevant technology.
Candidates with prior research experience in this domain will be given priority. Details for all the positions’ eligibility and stipend are given below.
MS/ME/MPhil Candidate
Monthly stipend: Rs. 20,000/- per month
Eligibility: The candidate must have BE/B.S in electronics, mechatronics, mechanical, telecommunication, computer systems, instrumentation, and industrial engineering. Having confirmed admission in MUET
Positions Available: Two (02)
Ph.D. Candidate
Monthly Compensation: PKR. 25,000/- per month
Eligibility: The candidate must have ME/M.S./MPhil in electronics, mechatronics, mechanical, telecommunication, computer systems, instrumentation, and industrial engineering
Valid GRE/GAT: Subject Score/ having confirmed admission in Ph.D. in MUET

RESEARCH ASSISTANTS/DEVELOPER /PROGRAMMER
Monthly Compensation: PKR. 45000/-
Eligibility: Bachelor degree in Engineering disciplines: Electronics/Computer /Communication/Mechanical or Mechatronics /Software, with 02 years’ relevant experience in experience a desired in Preferred skills list
Preferred Skills: Strong academic profile, Embedded Systems, Programming (VHDL, Verilog, System C, MATLAB, C/C++) and CMS
Positions Available: Two (02)
RESEARCH ASSOCIATES/Design Engineer
Monthly Compensation: PKR. 75000/-
Eligibility: Master’s degree in Engineering disciplines: Electronics/Computer /Communication/Mechanical or Mechatronics/Instrumentation with 02 years hands-on industrial experience on system design, development, and simulation of embedded systems (i.e., hardware/ software and its co-simulation) preferably using C/C++, Python, VHDL/Verilog, and LabView Software. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills are highly desirable. Experience in deep learning and data analytics is value addition. Or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Disciplines: Electronics/Computer /Communication/Mechanical or Mechatronics / /Instrumentation with 04 years industrial experience in system design, development, and simulation of embedded systems (i.e., hardware/software and its co-simulation) preferably using C/C++, Python, R, VHDL/Verilog, and having certification of LabView Application Developer (CLAD). Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills are highly desirable. Experience in deep learning and data analytics is value addition.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess valid certification in embedded systems related programming languages/tools.
