Directorate General of Archaeology was established in 1987. Initially an attached department of Information, Culture, and Youth Affairs Department and since October 2011, attached with the newly created Youth Affairs, Sports, Archaeology & Tourism Department. Prior to Devolution in April 2011 the Directorate General of Archaeology, Punjab was responsible for the 261 protected monuments under the “Punjab Special Premises (Preservation) Ordinance 1985”. After 18th Amendment, 149 monument/ sites were transferred from Federal Government to the Government of the Punjab. HQ in Lahore, Sub Regional offices in Taxila, Jhelum, Multan, and Bahawalpur.
Archaeology Department Punjab Invites jobs application from the suitable candidates for the following vacant posts:-
- Sub Engineer (Katas Raj Complex)
- Junior Clerk (Katas Raj Complex, Chakwal, Gujrat Museum & Kallar Kahar Museum )
- Electrician (Katas Raj Complex)
- Mesan (Katas Raj Complex)
